FTO to hear case filed by M/s Tufail Industries  on November 29

KARACHI: The Federal Tax Ombudsman Karachi Region will hear case filed by M/s Tufail Industries Karachi on 29th November 2017.

Source told Customs Today  that FTO Advisor Shamim Yaqoob will hear the case of M/s Industries Karachi in which the counsel for the appellant argued that Large Taxpayer Unit (LTU) had failed to release the refund to the appellant of the last two years.

Source said that the LTU collected excessive tax from M/s Industries Karachi during the last two years. He approached the officer concerned many time for issuance of the refunds but the LTU officials did not pay the refunds after the passage of reasonable time.

Finally, the appellant decided to approach the Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) seeking interference in this case. The counsel appealed the FTO advisor to direct the LTU to clear the refund claims.

Source told that delay in issuance of refunds put burden on the taxpayers, adding that the LTU should make audit of the cases and release the extra amount collected by it from the taxpayer.

It is necessary to mention here that in the Month of November FTO Karachi region has heard nine cases and 3 more cases are pending, the hearing of pending cases will be complete in current month.
