MULTAN: The Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) has launched an Urdu translation of the Federal Tax Laws Manual. This initiative is expected to eliminate language barriers and empower a larger segment of the population to navigate the complexities of the country’s tax system with ease.

The Urdu translation of the Federal Tax Laws Manual, compiled under the guidance of Dr. Asif Mahmood Jah, the Federal Tax Ombudsman, serves as an essential resource for taxpayers. It provides a clear and accessible explanation of various federal tax laws, including customs, income tax, and general sales tax. The manual aims to make it easier for the citizens to understand their rights and obligations under these laws, ensuring that the information is readily available in Pakistan’s national language.

During an awareness session held with the business community on Sunday, FTO Coordinator Muhammad Farhan Munir emphasized that the manual was specifically designed to address common challenges faced by taxpayers. The translation aims to simplify complex tax-related terms and procedures, offering guidance on how to resolve grievances and seek remedies for issues related to tax assessments and refunds.

The manual provides step-by-step instructions on the tax filing process, the assessment of taxes, and compliance requirements. It also offers clear explanations of how taxpayers can appeal against incorrect assessments, address excessive tax deductions, and resolve delays in tax refunds. By demystifying these processes, the manual ensures that taxpayers, regardless of their background or education, can easily understand and follow the procedures necessary to meet their obligations.

One of the standout features of this initiative is the availability of the manual in Urdu, making it accessible to a wider audience across the country. By removing the language barrier, the FTO ensures that citizens from diverse regions can understand their rights and responsibilities under the law. Farhan Munir stressed that this translation is a vital tool in promoting tax literacy and encouraging a more informed and compliant taxpaying public.
