Fuel crisis in Pakistan: Nawaz’s departure for Davos to attend WEF delayed

ISLAMABAD: Because of the prevailing petrol crisis in Pakistan, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has delayed his departure for Davos to attend the World Economic Forum.

The World Economic Forum is starting on Wednesday but the prime minister will be leaving on the following day. Mr Nawaz couldn’t attend to the implementation of National Action Plan (for quelling terrorism for one week as he left for Saudi Arabia last week to inquire about the health of seriously ill Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz in Riyadh, sources disclosed.

They sources added that ever since he had returned from the Kingdom, he had been devoting his whole attention to the petrol situation. He had been attending back-to-back meetings for elimination of terrorism ahead of his departure to Saudi Arabia almost on daily basis.

Meantime, he has convened a high echelon meeting to review the overall working regarding the NAP and related action on Wednesday in Islamabad where all chief ministers will also be present.
