KARACHI: Karachi Customs Agents Association (KCAA) announced that due to hard work and assiduous efforts of KCAA, a long outstanding issue which became a hindrance between customs agents and traders regarding upfront payment of duty and taxes from PD account of traders which eliminates the role of custom agent from the Goods Declaration (GDs) has now been resolved.
KCAA initiated this procedure so the custom agents can be relieved from this hardship and now the funds available in the PD account of traders can be utilized for upfront payment of duty and taxes.
The WeBOC project team has deployed the required module in the system that will allow the customs agents to remain authorized for processing of the GD, in such cases if the GD is prepared by the customs agent using their unique user ID with an option to pay the upfront taxes by the trader from his PD account through payment management module of traders user ID, concurrently the GD will remain available with the customs agent for further processing.
This option will facilitate the payment process and enable customs agents to comply with the Rule 101(hh) of Customs Rules 2001 and it will also allow the traders to utilize their funds available in their PD accounts.
