NEW YORK: Susan Davenport can remove “interim” from her title after the board of the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce named her president and CEO on Thursday.
Davenport has served in an interim role since Tim Giuliani left in June to lead the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce in North Carolina.
Giuliani recruited Davenport to the Gainesville Chamber in April 2013 as vice president of economic development, overseeing business recruitment, expansion and retention efforts for the Chamber and Council for Economic Outreach. Prior to that, she spent 12 years with the Austin (Texas) Chamber of Commerce, lastly as senior vice president of global technology strategies. In her various roles there, she worked on business recruitment, started a business retention and expansion program, coordinated a regional tech startup program for the state and started a program for tech executives to support entrepreneurs.
Davenport has a bachelor’s degree in nursing and a master’s degree in public affairs from the University of Texas.
