Gardai seize cannabis worth €2.8m in massive Cavan drugs-bust

DUBLIN: Gardai seized cannabis worth €2.8 million today in an joint investigation which included the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau and Revenue’s Customs Service.

A massive 143 kilos of herbal cannabis was found in Co Cavan and a 36-year-old man and a 50-year-old woman were arrested in the ‘intelligence led’ drugs-bust.The pair are being detained at Ballyconnell Garda Station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 2006.

As part of a follow-up operation, a 46-year-old man was also arrested and detained at Cavan Garda Station under the same act and in connection with the same offence.

A Garda spokesman said the focus of the investigation was to target “individuals involved in the trafficking, sale and supply of illicit drugs”.
