LAHORE: The Judicial activism Panel has challenged the surcharge on electricity bill in the form of gas infrastructure development surcharge.
An application is moved by Judicial Activism Panel has argued that NEPRA has no regard for common man’s interests. The government is collecting surcharge in trhe electricity bill while there are thousands of consumers who have no access to gas but they are bound to pay the money. In the application, the the Panel told the court that the government is trying to collect Rs 11 billion through this surcharge which is cruel act as the people are already paying huge amount of electricity bills while facing heavy load-shedding.
The Judicial Activism Panel has requested the Lahore High Court to declare this gas infrastructure surcharge null and void.
