Gawadar Customs foils smuggling attempts worth Rs2.3m

KARACHI: Model Customs Collectorate Gawadar foiled smuggling attempts and confiscated fine quality narcotics and huge quantity of Iranian diesel in different operations. Customs arrested three accused in these operations.

According to details, Collector Gawadar Customs Saeed Akram received credible information about transportation of narcotics in a vehicle. He immediately constituted a team of Customs Anti-smuggling Organization to counter the smuggling attempt.

The ASO team established a check post on the exit points of the city and started searching vehicles. While searching, the ASO team intercepted a Suzuki vehicle bearing registration No: GA-5423. The team searched the vehicle and recovered 10 kilogram fine quality weed inside the hidden boxes of vehicle. The ASO team confiscated the weed and arrested the driver of the vehicle who was identified as Khan Muhammad.

Sources said that the ASO team registered a case against the accused and sent him to bars whereas the confiscated weed is said to be worth Rs1.2 million.

Meanwhile, in another operation, the ASO team seized 18,000 liter Iranian diesel from an oil tanker. The seized diesel is worth Rs1.1 million. The ASO team impounded the offending oil tanker and registered a case against two accused.

The ASO team has forwarded both cases to the Customs Adjudication for further proceeding.
