GB Collector Feroz Alam Junejo seeks foolproof security at Sost dry port

ISLAMABAD: Collector of Customs Gilgit-Baltistan Feroz Alam Junejo has said that the operation at trade activities cannot be continued at Sost dry port until and unless the provision of appropriate security measures by National Logistic Cell (NLC) to ensure security of customs officers and cargo lying at the port.

In a letter addressed to the NLC Director General, he said that the goods loaded on the trucks were sped away after breaking the exit gate while approximately 5 to 10 trucks fully loaded were taken away without any resistance by NLC security.

Collector Feroz Alam clearly notified that certain unauthorized people were spotted in the sheds who are trying to mix up the imported goods, the same were being loaded on trucks without any clearance from Customs and these people without any provocation attacked customs officers.

The collector said that he raised the issue of security laps at the Sost dry port, both in writing and verbally during various meetings with the NLC authorities where all the previous incidences have been highlighted.
