GILGIT-BALTISTAN: The Collector Customs Collectorate Gilgit Baltistan Feroz Alam Junejo said Customs Collectorate of GB is working for progress of the country and WeBOC is not only implemented in GB but it is functioning all around the country.
The Collector said that the CPEC is heading towards completion and without WeBOC, how the port will be functional. The Collectorate has established a WeBOC facilitation center at GB to solve issues being faced by importers and exporters.
He further said that we are asking importers to adjust themselves because there is no other option rather than to adopt WeBOC. He notified if GB importers will not run business via Sost dry port then importers of different cities of the country will come to GB and start imports and exports then hurdles will increase for local importers.
The sources of GB told that GB importers and exporters staged strike against WeBOC on Wednesday as they demanded removal of Web Based One Customs at Sost dry port.
Sources of GB said that dozens of containers loaded with import and export goods are currently parked at the Sost Port near Khunjerab Pass as traders were refused Customs clearance through WeBOC.
After so many rounds of meetings between importers and Government, the strike is still going on, yesterday’s call for demonstration against WeBOC was given by the GB Chamber of Commerce and Industry which was attendant by ordinary labourers because they are jobless from last two months due to strike.
