RIYADH: Automobile giant General Motors Company (GM), in coordination with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, announced plans to recall as many as 30,000 vehicles of different models from the Saudi market due to several manufacturing defects.
The ministry published details of the newly launched recall campaign.
Owners of the affected vehicles may contact the local agent to get the defect repaired free of cost, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
The models of vehicles that come under the recall campaign are: Chevrolet Camaro 2010-2014, Cadillac CTS 2003-2012, Cadillac SRX 2004-2006, Chevrolet Malibu 1997-2005, Cadillac DTS 2006-2011, and Cadillac CTS 2011-2014.
Their defect is in the key that affects the steering wheel, engine and brake mechanism.
GM also recalled Chevrolet Silverado 2014-2015, Cadillac CTS 2014, and GMC Sierra 2014-2015, and Cadillac ATS 2013-2014 due to a defective welding in the front seats. Chevrolet Caprice LS, SS 2013-2014, and Cadillac CTS 2014 have also been recalled because of a malfunction in the system space.
Models of Chevrolet Impala 2014-2015, and Cadillac XTS 2013-2015 were recalled due to a malfunction in the brake light electronic system, and Cadillac ATS 2014 because of a defect in the headlight system along with Cadillac ATS 2013- 2015 due to a defect in the electrical system of the lights. GM recalled Cadillac SRX 2010-2015 because of a defect in the rear balance shaft, and Chevrolet Malibu 2004-2012 due to brake light system malfunctioning.
The recalling of Chevrolet Camaro 2012 was attributed to a defect in airbags, while Chevrolet Caprice LS, SS 2014 was recalled due to a defect in wires tightening the seat belt device.
