BERLIN: Inflation rate in Germany has increased by 0.2 per cent in the month of August on YoY.
According to the official data, the inflation rate for the month was therefore unchanged from July, when it also reached 0.2 percent, the federal statistics office Destatis said in a statement.
Energy prices in August fell 7.6 percent from a year ago, but those for food and services showed a slight growth.
Using the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) – the yardstick used by the European Central Bank – inflation in Germany rose by 0.1 percent year-on-year in August. That was the same rate as last month and far below the ECB’s annual inflation target of just below 2.0 percent.
