WASHINGTON: Ruggedized computing device maker Getac Technology expects sales of its rugged PC products to grow by a double digit rate in 2017, while total revenues will increase by 5-10% in the year, according to company chairman James Hwang. There is still room for development of rugged PC products as Getac currently accounts for less than 20% of the global rugged PC market, which could reach US$3 billion a year, Hwang said at the company’s latest investors conference.

Shipments of rugged PC products accounted for 45% of Getac’s total revenues of NT$20.4 billion (US$672.02 million) in 2016, while chassis products made up 47%, the company noted. Meanwhile, the company reported consolidated revenues of NT$1.865 billion for March, increasing 18.76% from a year earlier. Cumulative 2017 revenues through March totaled NT$5.201 billion, up 20.76% from a year earlier. The company’s stock price fell NT$0.75 to close at NT$42.85 on the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TSE) during the April 5 session.
