GHAZNI CITY: The southern Ghazni province’s revenue has increased by 25 percent this solar year, compared to last year’s returns, an official said on Sunday.

Fida Mohammad Aziz, the revenue department head, told Pajhwok his department collected 391 million afghanis this year compared to last year’s 266 million afghanis.

Aziz said they had started collecting revenue at district level as well, a reason he cited behind the surge in income.

He said the provincial revenue had surpassed the Ministry of Finance (MoF)’s 343 million afghanis target for the outgoing year.

The official said the revenue would be spent on development activities in the province as planned.

Governor Mohammad Aman Hamim said some companies who evaded taxes for 14 years had been registered now and they paid regular taxes.

He admitted corruption and irregularities in tax collection process, but said a commission had been formed to keep an eye on such issues.
