VICTORIA: Gibraltar Port is ready to generate business from Maritime Industry’s executives, shipping associations, operators and ship owners, and in this series they have sent delegates to Hong Kong who will host a series of events there.
The Gibraltar Ship Register is a member of the Red Ensign Group, of the UK, its Crown Dependencies, and Overseas Territories. It offers a very competitive fee structure for vessel registration and relatively low tonnage tax, in place of a tax on profits. There is also no value-added tax in Gibraltar.
Neil Costa, Gibraltar’s Minister for Tourism, Commercial Affairs, Public Transport and the Port, said: “I am delighted at the opportunity of traveling to Hong Kong, an international hub of the global maritime industry, and be able to showcase the quality professional services offered by the Port of Gibraltar to an experienced and discerning gathering of shipping experts. The trip and activities that we will be undertaking there are part of the Gibraltar Government’s robust promotion efforts to highlight the commercial and strategic importance of our Port.
