NEW YORK: Global offensive has banned more than 1,600 players from Counter-Strike in the last 24 hours for using various cheats and hacks.
The community is calling it the biggest VAC ban wave in the history of the game. According to unconfirmed reports, Valve’s Anti Cheat is now able to identify and ban sixteen different types of cheat-selling websites. Anyone who gets caught using any item from any of the listed websites, will has his/her Steam account permanently banned.
Hacking or simply using third-party tools to gain an unfair advantage has been a major thorn stuck in the side of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. An earlier ban wave even saw to some professional Counter-Strike players being snagged.
With such a high cheating toll, it has to be asked if we can expect Valve to update VAC more frequently. Currently it works as if in a deep sleep mode. Instant action is never expected. From time to time, Valve will update its system to cleanse away all the filth in one mighty flood.
These 1,600 or so players probably thought they had been fooling Steam all this time. They can now look forward to a lump of coal in their stockings instead.
