In food items, the price of only flour has increased. Food Traders Union head, Fazal Rahman said the rate of a 49 kilograms sack of Kazakh flour increased from 1,250afs to 1,280afs this week. He linked the hike in flour price to a decrease in imports.

But he said a 49-kg bag of Pakistani sugar cost 2,250afs, 24-kg of Pakistani rice 1,600afs and 16 liters of Shahista ghee 1,050afs, the same prices as of last week’s.

But wholesale prices varied from retail rates in parts of the city. A retailer in Dahna Bagh area, Ahmad Navid, sold a 24-kg sack of rice for 1,800afs and a 50-kg bag of Kazakh flour for 1,350afs.
