NEW YORK: After releasing the “Passport” flagship, the Canadian Smartphone maker is preparing to launch the BlackBerry Classic, a mid-range phone, which will come with a physical QWERTY keyboard, but divided into four rows of keys, instead of three. The Nexus 6 is definitely worth its money, having superior specs, but we’ll compare it with the Blackberry Classic anyway.

Blackberry still believes that there are many fans of the QWERTY keyboards, who are not fond of typing on a capacitive screen because they say it’s more difficult to press a key on the virtual keyboard, especially when they have sweaty fingers. The Blackberry Classic has that “classic” look, which reminds us of the previous models with physical keyboards, but unlike the Passport, it has rounded corners. It’s kind of heavy at 177grams and has a thickness of 10.2mm. It measures 131mm in height and 72.4mm in width and has a square screen with the diagonal of 3.5inches. The screen supports 720×720 pixels at 294ppi and it’s protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

The Nexus 6 was made by Motorola and has some familiar visual elements from the Moto X model, only it’s very large, featuring a AMOLED screen sized at 5.96 inches, with a much higher resolution of 1440×2560 pixels and supporting 493ppi. The phone is water resistant and its casing is made of plastic. On the back, below the camera you’ll see a dimple with the M logo in the center of it, at the top there’s the small dip and around the edges was placed a metallic frame. The device is 0.1mm thinner than its rival and weights 184grams.

Performance

The Blackberry Classic has a weak processor with two cores, clocked at 1.5GHz, which is backed by a Qualcomm MSM8960 Snapdragon chipset and 2GB of RAM, and uses Adreno 225 graphics. It’s available with 16GB of internal memory, which supports expansion up to 128GB and the OS is BlackBerry 10.3.1.

The Nexus 6 runs on the latest Android Lollipop version and has 3GB of RAM and an enviable Krait 450 processor with four cores clocked at 2.7GHz, which sits comfortably on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset along with an Adreno 420 GPU. There’s a good thing and a bad thing about Nexus 6’s internal memory. It’s available in two variants and they have bigger capacities, like 32 and 64GB, but the phone lacks a microSD card slot.

Cameras and batteries

The Nexus 6 has a better rear camera of 13MP with great features including optical image stabilization, dual-LED flash, photo sphere, dual recording, HDR, allowing you to take good-quality photos even in low light conditions. The Blackberry Classic has an 8MP camera on the back and a 2MP camera on the front, just like the Nexus 6.

If you’ll buy the Blackberry Classic, you’ll talk 17 hours with its 2515 mAh battery, while the Nexus 6 has a 3220 mAh battery which supports up to 24 hours of talktime.
