NEW YORK: Google is thinking of launching its small scale wireless services by March, but it will only work on its own Nexus 6 smart phone. Google’s SVP of Android, Chrome, and Google Apps, Sundar Pichai, has stated and confirmed that the company is finding option of offering a wireless service.

Pichai believes that they need to think of hardware, software, and the connectivity altogether.

“I think we’re at the stage where we need to think of hardware, software, and connectivity together,” Pichai said during a keynote at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, according to PC Mag.

Google’s alleged wireless service which was heard of in January is planned to connect phones to a wifi cellular network. However, at this point, the tech giant will be able to offer such service only to their Nexus 6 which was designed by Google itself and manufactured by Motorola Mobility.

The launch is likely to be end of this month or early April since Google is known for not revealing new projects until the last moment when they are ready to unveil it.

Moreover, Google has not mentioned any reason as of yet why their service is initially limited to the Nexus 6. The service will not even work on older versions like the Nexus 5 which was created by LG Electronics.

Google’s wireless service will merge the cellular networks of Sprint and T-Mobile Wi-Fi networks, selecting the best at any time and location to improve the overall quality of calling and Internet access.
