NEW YORK: Google is struggling hard to excel in the race of introducing latest technology gadgets and now it has unveiled the Nexus Player to challenge Apple TV.
The Asus-built Nexus Player is an Intel-powered Android TV media streamer and is the first device to arrive running Google’s Android TV software, which enables owners to watch movies, music and videos from an Android, iOS, Windows, Mac or Chrome device using Google Cast.
Google’s latest product is the best gadget for the game lovers because unlike Apple TV, Android TV has a big focus on gaming, and the Nexus Player will support gameplay via a dedicated gamepad which will be offered separately.
In terms of specs, the puck-shaped Nexus Player features a 1.8GHz quad-core Intel Atom processor, 1GB RAM, 8GB of storage and Imagination PowerVR Series 6 graphics.
Google said that the Nexus Player will be available to pre-order from October 17, and will begin shipping on November 3. There’s no word on pricing yet, but reports claim that it will retail at Google Play for around $99.
