NEW YORK: Google has introduced a new payment system for smartphones using Android operating system in a bid to compete with Apple which launched Apple Pay last year. Mobile payment system is the new and fast growing segment and Google can’t afford to stay behind in this sector. Smartphone users will be able to pay at various locations using their smartphones.

As the usage of smartphones has increased over the past few years, the way we use our handheld devices has changed as well. Google Pay would work at more than 700,000 retail counters across the United States and the company is engaging more retailers to improve its reach.
