Governor appealed to stop customs officials from unduly checkup of cleared containers

LAHORE: Officials of Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) unduly stop trucks outside and within city limits for examination which are carrying imported goods after clearance. This practice should be stopped as it is causing undue problems.

LCCI president Tariq Misbah  made this appeal to the Governor Punjab Chaudhary Mohammad Sarwar in a ceremony at the Governor House Lahore.

President LCCI Mian Tariq Misbah said that there is a dire need of new parking plazas in Lahore due to the growing needs of the city. We are ready to work with you in this regard.

The LCCI president said that the provincial governments of KPK, Sindh and Balochistan have waived tax on pilgrims for Hajj and Umrah, whereas, the Government of Punjab has yet to announce such tax exemption.

Mian Tariq Misbah also said that the encroachments have plagued the commercial areas of Lahore. These areas should be made free of encroachments as it is in some way adding to the cost of doing business.

He also said that WASA has considerably increased water tariff for industrial and commercial users. The industry is also facing high cost of doing business due to the hike in power tariff, it is the urgent need of the hour to bring down the energy tariff for the industrial sector in line with the regional economies to enhance our export competitiveness.

He added that we fully support the drive of price control but there should not be any injustice to anyone.  The high conversion fee for land use charged by LDA is an impediment to Industrialization and should be abolished, said Mian Tariq Misbah
