Govt abolishes non-tax filers regime: Shabbar Zaidi

ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Shabbar Zaidi has said that one new thing in this budget 2019-20 is very rare that government has abolished non-filer regime while pursuing income tax laws.

Shabber Zadhi talking with the media here at Planning Commission said that FBR has purposed that non tax filers should be allowed to buy or sell anything (vehicle or moveable/immoveable property) in the country because whenever they do any transition they will automatically enter into the data base of FBR. The taxpayer should be able to become a part of tax filer category within 06 minutes, he said and added ‘we are making online tax filing procedure simple and speedy’.

He further said FBR is closely aligned with the NADRA (national data base registration authority) and can exchange personal data of taxpayers with each other for sake of improvement and documentation of economy.

He also said about 0.1 million companies are doing business in the country but they are not paying taxes. In amnesty scheme 2019, which will end on 31st June, the FBR is offering every individual or company that “they can pay 10 percent to 15% of their income and make their business bonafide”.
