Govt allocates over Rs13b for health sector in Budget 2019

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has allocated an amount of Rs13376.558 million for completion of 32 new and 13 ongoing health sector projects under Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP).

According to budgetary document, an amount of Rs6809.445 million has been allocated for on-going schemes while Rs6567.113 million have been allocated for new health schemes.

An amount of Rs3000.000 million has been earmarked for Prime Minister National Health Programme (Phase II), while Rs2206.000 million have been allocated for Expanded Programme on Immunisation (EPI) Islamabad.

Another Rs613.327 million have been allocated for replacement and purchase of equipment at FGPC, whereas an amount of Rs545.000 million has been doled out for replacement and upgradation of HVAC plant room equipment and allied works at PIMS, Islamabad.

The government has earmarked an amount of Rs2000 million for National University of Medical Sciences (land acquisition), besides allocation of Rs465.946 million for extension project of intensive care department of mother and child health centre and children hospital, PIMS Islamabad.

Moreover, the government allocated Rs316.733 million for procurement of MRI equipment for Radiology Department of PIMS, Islamabad, besides earmarking Rs150 million for strengthening points of entry of Pakistan and Directorates of Central Health Establishments.
