LAHORE: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) development department working party has approved funds for construction of a new terminal at Wagha border to facilitate trade activities between Pakistan and India.
According to sources of Customs Today DDWP has approved funds for construction of new terminal at Wagha border and District Coordination Officer (DCO) Lahore will acquire land for this purpose. Sources said that concerned DCO Lahore will acquire land of 10 acres at Wagha border under section 4.
Old trade terminal at Wagha border is not as per requirements of trade volume and there was badly need to construct a new and vast terminal as trade activities are expected to increase in future specially during arrival and departure of Sikh pilgrims heavy rush creates problems for customs officials in clearance of their consignments. Traders are optimistic that newly constructed terminal will facilitate the traders and pilgrims as well.
