LAHORE: The statutory regulatory order (SRO) culture and discretionary powers of government functionaries are the biggest threat to economic well-being of the country, and once these two evils are done away with, our economy will be flourishing like those of developed countries.

These views were stated by Chaudhry Muhammad Aslam, the chairman of KTK Group of Companies, while talking exclusively to Customs Today.

Soft-spoken Chaudhry Aslam touched almost all the issues that have been hitting the economy, and according to him, these issues have held hostage the otherwise resource-rich country.

“If you want to eliminate corruption from Pakistan once and for all, you would have to stop granting discretionary powers to government functionaries. I am speaking with full authority that there is no dearth of talent in Pakistan and it is one of the few places in the world that offer huge dividend to the people on any investment.”
