ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar has said that the PML(N) Government is committed to fulfill its promise to provide affordable housing to people having lower incomes and assured that these will be provided to them through a transparent process.
These observations were made by him during a presentation given to him by National Construction Limited, ABAD and Eden groups for construction of three marla and five marla houses under the Prime Minister’s low income housing scheme at the Finance Ministry.
The meeting was informed that under the Prime Minister’s low income housing scheme, the government plans to construct 50000 units. There would be 500 clusters each having 1000 units. These units would be provided to the people on 20 year mortgage and would be financed by House Building Finance Corporation as well as private banks.
During the meeting availability of land, its procurement and various different models of houses were presented for consideration. The final approval of which would be made by Prime Minister of Pakistan.
The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for Housing Barrister Usman Ibrahim and Chairman FBR Tariq Bajwa and senior government officials.
Meanwhile, Finance Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar held a meeting with Rachid Benmessaoud, Country Director World Bank and Werner E. Liepach Resident Representative Asian Development Bank and exchanged views on current economic situation.
Werner. E. Liepach termed the economic environment in the country as conducive and appreciated the reforms being carried out by the PML-N government as a move in the right direction.
