Govt improving livestock sector in Balochistan: Bosan

ISLAMABAD: The federal government is working to improve livestock sector in Balochistan, said Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Sardar Sikandar Hayat Khan Bosan.

“Balochistan has tremendous potential in livestock sector, which provides livelihood to 70 percent population directly or indirectly,” the minister said while addressing the livestock farmers conference on “Livestock Research and Development in Balochsitan” in Quetta.

Over 100 male and female livestock farmers from 32 districts of Balochistan gathered in the conference to discuss the constraints and development opportunities of Livestock in Balochistan, said a press statement issued here.

Bosan said that present government was giving top priority to livestock farmers mainly the small and landless farmers, who are living in miserable socio-economic conditions in the province. He said the government was making efforts for increasing productivity, improving feed and fodder availability, improving coverage of animal health care, provision of extension services, and improvement of marketing systems and intensification of relation with private sector.
