Govt introduces authority to keep check on construction work

LAHORE: With the aim to avoid any untoward incident, the provincial government has decided to introduce a Multipurpose Authority to check the substandard construction work and to take action against the involved contractors.

The authority would also inspect the incomplete roads in the cities and markets. The Chief Minister would be the chairman of board of governors of proposed authority, while the board of governor would consist of three MPAs including one female MPA and two members of local government.

The provincial government would hire the services of national and international consultants for this purpose to ensure the maintenance of roads in every city of the province and standard of new construction as per international standard. The proposed authority would also supervisor of all motorways, expressways, highways, public roads and bridges of every kind.
