Govt likely to increase power tariff by Rs3.41 per unit

ISLAMABAD: The federal government is likely to increase power tariff by Rs 3.41 per unit.

This would be another blow to the people already burdened by inflation.

The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) submitted a request to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) for this hike.

This request relates to the monthly fuel price adjustment. Nepra will examine the request for the price boost on June 28.

The application filed by the CPPA with Nepra says 12.26 billion units of electricity were generated last month, with a production cost of Rs 111 billion.

As per the details, the cost of electricity produced from furnace oil was Rs 31.44 per unit, LNG-based Rs 24.01 per unit, and imported from Iran Rs 26.09 per unit.
