Govt making all out efforts to overcome energy crisis: Musadiq

ISLAMABAD: Spokesman to the Prime Minister Dr. Musadiq Malik Wednesday said Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government was making all out efforts to overcome energy crisis in the country.

Talking to a news channel, he said keeping in view the path being followed by the incumbent government, it was hoped that energy crisis would be overcome in the next few years.

He said it was due to the untiring efforts of the government that China- Pakistan Economic Corridor project was turned into a reality.

Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, in the same way, want to open the doors of the whole Central Asia for Pakistan, and his recent visit to Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan was also for the same purpose, he underlined.

Malik further said no new gas tax was imposed on masses as the tax related to recent bill passed in the parliament was already included in the bills of the consumers, adding, there would be no increase in the tariff of gas after the passage of the said bill.

The spokesman said the bill was presented in the parliament three years ago during the tenure of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), however, it was finalized two to three days back after some amendments.

He said the purpose of imposing gas tax was to arrange additional finances for a number of new projects being initiated in the country.
