Govt making efforts for development of IT sector: Anusha

ISLAMABAB: State Minister for Information Technology Anusha Rahman on Monday stated that the government was making efforts for development of information technology sector and as part of holistic strategy a national incubation centre is needed for nurturing entrepreneurship.

She was speaking at the 36th Board of Directors meeting of National ICT R and D Fund Company held here on Monday.

Federal Secretary IT Azmat Ali Ranjha, CEO National ICT R&D Fund Company Asif Roomi CEO ICT R&D Co, Member (Telecom) Mudassar Hussain, MD, PSEB Asim Shehryar, Member (HR) Tahir Mushtaq and other Members of the Board, were also present in the meeting.

The board unanimously approved the appointment of Michael Foley as new Director Board of ICT R&D Fund Company against the vacancy of cellular mobile industry representative.

The board was briefed on the RFP of Tech City incubation project draft prepared by the subcommittee of the Board, on which certain amendments were suggested by the Board.

After the final draft of RFP is approved by the board it will be published forthwith.

She said the Board regarding the announcement of special incentives by the Federal government on setting up plants for “local manufacturing of mobile phone handsets” in the recent budget.
