Govt opens bid for regional ports expansion worth P608.6 million

MANILA: The transportation department is calling on contractors to bid for deals to expand three regional ports, cumulatively worth P608.6 million.

The first contract on offer involves the construction of a passenger terminal building at the Port of Cagayan de Oro in Misamis Occidental for P297.63 million.

ADB raises $4.25 billion from US dollar bond market to boost OCR for 2020

The winning bidder will be responsible for supply and driving of pre-cast piles for foundation, as well as construction of the two-storey facility with roofdeck, including reinforcements and gravel bedding. The project must be completed within 720 days.

Also up for bidding is the P60.69-million deal for the construction of port operations building in the Port of Lucena in Brgy. Talao-talao, Lucena.

“This project entails the demolition and removal works…of existing steel fence, building structures, flagpole, steel lamp post, generation set, steel gate and concrete pavement,” the invitation read.

The winning bidder will also construct a two-storey port operations building, concrete pavement, pump house and appurtenances, among others. The construction period will run for 420 days.

The bid documents for the two aforementioned contracts, individually priced at P50,000, can be bought until Jan. 7, and a pre-bid conference for the deals will be held on Dec. 21. Bids must be submitted and will be opened on Jan. 7.

Lastly, the agency is also offering the P250.33-million contract for the expansion of the Ozamiz Port in Ozamiz City, Misamis Occidental.

The contractor will build the reinforced concrete wharf and roll-on, roll-off ramp and a back-up area, and remove some existing structures.

The winning party must complete the project within 480 days.

The bid documents for this deal, also priced at P50,000, can be bought until Jan. 8. A pre-bid conference for the project will be held on Dec. 21. Bids must be submitted and will be opened on Jan. 8.

“Bidding will be conducted through open competitive bidding using non-discretionary pass/fail criteria…,” the agency said.
