LAHORE: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has ahieved a growth of 33 percent in revenue collection within two years due to the structural and administrative reform of the government.
This was stated by Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Nisar Mohammad Khan while addressing the Customs and Inland Revenue Service officials at the Regional Tax Office Auditorium here.
These reforms were the most challenging and painful in their nature, he said adding that the influential taxpayers were traced and over Rs 225 billion exemption were eliminated during the last two federal budgets.
These were not the minor achievements besides new concept of filer and none filers was incorporated in order to achieve the motives of encouraging compliance and discouraging non-compliance.
He added that the initiative of broadening of tax net resulted in bringing in thousands of people in the tax net, besides far reaching reforms were undertaken in automation and audit.
The FBR chairman informed that by the grace of Almighty Allah by the end of November financial year 2015-16FBR has shown a growth of 28 percent which is healthy sign, “yet we have long way to achieve the target of Rs 3,104 billion during this financial year”.
Nisar while expressing the importance of achieving the target, urged the tax collectors of both Customs and Inland Revenue Service to work with integrity and devotion.
He assured of his and his teams commitment, devotion and hard work in both maximization of tax revenue and facilitation to the taxpayers.
Separately, the chairman FBR visited the Lahore Customs House and held meeting with the customs officials urging them to achieve targets.
Customs Central Region Chief Collector Rozi Khan Burki, Lahore Preventive Collector Mukarram Jah Ansari, Collector Muhammad Sadiq and other were present on the occasion.
