LAHORE: Federal Commerce Minister Engineer Khurram Dastgir Khan has said that the government is fully committed to overcome economic challenges through the trade diplomacy and by facilitating business community.
He expressed his views on the inauguration of Pakistan Mega Leather Show organized by the Leather Manufacturers Pakistan Tanners Association and Pakistan Footwear Manufacturers Association at the Lahore Expo Centre.
The minister said the government was exploring new sectors in international markets to introduce Pakistani products and boost exports. He said Pakistani leather industry has great potential to become a member of billions dollars club in international markets.
He stressed the business community to focus on value addition for the sake of combating in the global markets. He said that Federal Government has refunded Rs 27 billion to exporters and more 1.54 billion rebates will be issued soon
The minister said the government introduced Export Finance Scheme, Rebate Scheme and other initiatives for the sake of bringing the country out of economic crisis. He urged the leather manufacturers and exporters to give suggestions to the Commerce Ministry for Trade Policy Framework 2015.
He said Pakistani industrialists especially leather manufacturers should increase cooperation with Pakistan Institute of Fashion Design for value addition in accordance with the international needs and to compete in global markets.
He also stressed the industrialists to ensure capacity development of their manpower and acquiring modern technology.
