Govt releases Rs98.215 billion for uplift projects

ISLAMABAD: The Planning Commission of Pakistan has so far released Rs98.215 billion under its Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for various projects against the total allocations of Rs540 billion for the fiscal year 2013-14.

According to latest data of Planning Commission of Pakistan, out of these allocations, Rs19,863 million have been released for various projects of Pakistan Energy Commission, out of its total allocations of Rs52,300 million earmarked under PSDP for FY 2013-14.

Similarly, a sum of Rs9,753.422 million has been released to National Highway Authority out of total allocation of Rs63038.619 million for the current fiscal year. Out of the total funds of Rs25,739.199 million allocated for the National Health Service Regulations and Coordination Division for the current year, the Planning commission released Rs10469.269 million so far.

The Commission also released Rs11,129.870 million for Railway Division out of its total allocations of Rs30,964.894 million, whereas Rs160 million have been released for National food Security and Research Division out of its total allocations of Rs750 million for the year.

Rs3698 million have been released for Higher Education Commission out of its total allocation of Rs18,490 million for the year 2013-14, whereas out of total allocations of Rs2,363.974 million earmarked for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Division, Rs4,89.401 million have been released so far.

According to the data, the commission released Rs13,096.957 million for WAPDA (Power) out of its total allocations of Rs51,543.425 million, where as Rs6,069.273 million have been provided to WAPDA (Water Sector) out of its total allocations of Rs57,840.211 million. Rs2,562.419 million have been released for Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (ERRA) out of its total allocations of Rs10,000 million for the current year.

The commission also released Rs614.993 million for cabinet division, Rs17.263 for Climate Change Division and Rs158.200 million for Commerce Division. In addition, Rs89.763 have been released for Education and Training Division, Rs2,075.797 for Finance Division, Rs160.954 million for Industries Division, Rs1,197.812 for Interior Division and Rs34.347 for Narcotics Control Division. The commission has released Rs20 million for Petroleum and Natural Resources Division, Rs103.996 for Planning and Development Division, Rs413.347 million for Science and Technology Research Division, Rs77.864 for SUPARCO and Rs63 million for Textile Industry Division.

Rs4,754.699 have been released for AJK (Block and other projects), Rs4,050 million for Gilgit Baltistan (Block and other projects) where as Rs 5162.687 million have been released for SAFRON/FATA.

The commission has been following a proper mechanism for the release of funds and accordingly funds are released as per given mechanism. The commission releases 20 percent of funds in first quarter (July-September), 20 percent in second quarter (October-December), 30 percent in third quarter (January-March) and 30 percent in fourth quarter (April-June).
