Govt should facilitate businessmen for betterment of national economy: Raja Hassan Akhter

LAHORE: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) should not raid business premises of traders and industrialists as they are as their patriotism is out of question.

These views were expressed by Raja Hassan Akhter, President of Lahore Businessman Front during an exclusive interview with Customs Today.

Akhter said that raids by FBR on business premises create fears among the business community, adding that the national economy may suffer due to non-cooperation between businessmen and the FBR.

He said that his group wants the progress of traders and industrialists and also the promotion of the national economy. Trade should be free and fair and there should be no involvement of politics in the trade policies.

Trade will be promoted if the country stabilize politically. The leading community of traders should raise the issues of business community before the government and release their entity in strong way.

Akhter said that traders wants political stability in the country, if country is stable politically then trade will definitely promoted in the country that is beneficial for the nation and traders as well.

He said that he is not a part of any political party and only working for the betterment f business class. He always worked for the benefits of community instead of his own interest.

He urged that political parties should work for the country instead of personal benefits. Government should take some bold steps for the business community because no nation can progress without strengthening national economy.

Talking about the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), Akhter said that there is lot of problems in LCCI the dominating group is voice of traders not a part of ruling party. The office bearers of the LCCI should raise the problems of traders.

He said that his group “Lahore Businessman Front” is purely the representative of the business community he will work for the traders, industrialists in real sense. He said that Adding more he is in touch with the leaders of associations and markets and his group will get success in the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) in the coming election which will be held in the month of September of the current year.

Akhter said that there are 24,000 members of Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry in which 8,500 are voters. The fake and bogus voters should be removed from the voters list and elections will be held purely on merit basis.
