Govt spending Rs480m on reconstruction of schools

MULAN: The Punjab government is spending Rs480 million for re-construction of 109 dangerous buildings, provision of missing facilities and 14 Information Technology labs in the district.

This was informed by Executive District Officer (EDO) Ishfaq Ahmed while talking to APP here on Sunday.

The EDO informed that the buildings of 109 schools, mostly located in tehsils City and Sadar (Multan), are in dilapidated condition. He added that Rs 260 million were being spent on re-construction of buildings in these schools. The reconstruction work would begin in next two weeks and will be completed by June 2016.

Similarly, another amount Rs 139 million is being spent for the provision of missing facilities which includes boundary wall, washrooms and some others at different schools. Information Technology (IT) labs were also being constructed in 14 schools at a cost of Rs 5 million in the district, concluded EDO Ishfaq.
