ISLAMABAD: Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Sheikh Aftab Ahmed Tuesday told the Senate that government was taking serious steps for betterment of the Pakistan Air Lines (PIA). Responding to a calling attention notice, the minister said that corruption, mismanagement and over staffing in PIA was main cause of its downfall.
He said the government had appointed new chief of PIA to improve the institution and newly chief had also briefed the cabinet about the comprehensive plan to revamp the PIA. He said Senate had constituted a special committee for probing a matter of sold PIA plane adding that committee was examining the matter and report will be presented before the House.
