Govt to decide on extending amnesty schemes’ deadline: Imran Raza

SIALKOT: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Regional Tax Office (RTO) Chief Commissioner Imran Raza Kazmi has said that the date of Voluntary Tax Compliance Scheme will be ended on Tuesday (today) and it is the government, which will decide to extend or not extend the date.

While talking to Customs Today, Kazmi said traders those have their yearly income up to Rs 400,000 but not taking benefits from said scheme will have to face stern action after the end of deadline.

The government has decided to facilitate the taxpayers, as it is making friendly policies, he said, adding that taxpayers should file returns in time to get benefits.

He said that Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has instructed the department to not disturb the taxpayers rather officials should guide them about the benefits of taxes, which played an important role to make the country strong economically.

He added that FBR Chairman Nisar Muhammad Khan has also directed the officials to develop a friendly relation with traders in order to change their perception about tax officials.

He said that the RTO has made a plan to collect tax from defaulters, adding that 300 notices have been served on defaulters to recover tax. The chief commissioner also said that all officials have already been instructed that they should expedite the recovery process.
