Govt to provide relief to film producers in tax

LAHORE: The government will cooperate with producers for restoration of film industry and construction of quality cinemas besides providing relief in tax to the film producers.

Punjab Minister for Excise & Taxation Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman expressed these views during a meeting with a representative delegation of Pakistan Film Exhibitors Association.

He asked the office-bearers of Film Exhibitors Association to exhibit quality films for providing cheap entertainment to the people. He said that watching films in cinema halls is the entertainment of poor man, therefore, they should be provided tickets on concessional rates. He said that entertainment tax would be imposed in consultation with cinema owners.

The delegation include Nadeem Mandviwala, Safdar Khan, Nasir Ismail, Ali and other members while Secretary Excise & Taxation, Directors and other officers of the Department were also present in the meeting.
