PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Senior Minister for Health and Information Technology, Shahram Khan Tarakai has said that the KP Government would spend Rs7 billion on the promotion of IT sector during the coming three years and for this purpose a comprehensive IT policy has already been formulated.
The provincial government is working on making five departments paper free by replacing paper work with new means of information communication technologies. He was addressing the second session of the three days Digital Youth Summit 2015 as chief guest here on Friday.
He said that it was not possible for any government to provide government jobs to all the people but government can definitely provide job and business opportunities for them, adding that in this regard IT sector has tremendous potentials.
The provincial government was taking concrete and result-oriented steps for the promotion of IT in the province and the holding of Digital Youth Summit was an important step towards that end.
“Digital Youth Summit will provide a platform for the IT students and experts from across the country and abroad as well to get together and showcase their innovative and creative ideas”, Shahram Khan maintained
The summit will help the IT students and young generation of the province to get connected with the rest of the world and thus explore maximum venues of self employment in online business.
The Provincial Minister said that KP government had engaged international IT companies like Microsoft; CESCO and Oracles to promote IT in the province. The MoU has already been signed with CESCO, a US based IT company to set up CESCO academies in the province.
It will enable the IT students of the province to get international standard IT certification without going abroad which will be extremely beneficial for them to get job anywhere in the world.
Addressing the session, Provincial Minister for Education, Muhammad Atif said that the government was working on effectively using IT for improving the performance of government departments and ensuring transparency in government affairs which is yielding positive results.
