Govt urged to build small dams to boost economy

ISLAMABAD: The newly-elected president of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ICCI), Muzzamil Sabri, has said that the government should build small dams to produce low-cost energy and to overcome prevailing power crisis, which will also help grow business activities in the country.

He was addressing the taking over ceremony was at Chambers House, in which a large number of members of business community were also present. Muzzamil Sabri said that self-sufficiency in power generation was vital to boost economy and hydro potential must be utilised for this purpose by building small dams. He further said that small dams could be built on Jhelum, Swat, Punjkora and Chitral River, where a number of suitable sites were available.
