Govt working to resolve traders’ issues, says Aurangzeb

ISLAMABAD: Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb said the government is engaging with major chambers of commerce across the country to hear the concerns of traders and industrialists and is working diligently to address their issues.

Addressing a ceremony at the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the finance minister said suggestions from traders and industrialists were taken into consideration during the preparation of the federal budget.

He added that consultations for the next budget will begin well in advance, with recommendations to be sought from business communities and trade bodies across the country.

Muhammad Aurangzeb urged traders and chambers to fully cooperate with the Federal Board of Revenue to improve the tax collection system so that national revenue can be increased.

The finance minister said conducting business is the responsibility of the private sector, while providing a conducive business environment remains the government’s duty.

He also assured that financing for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) would be further expanded to promote industrial and economic activity in the country.
