LCCI 9th Achievement Award ceremony held
LAHORE: President of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain has said that Pakistan has become a profitable land to do business because of government’s well-tailored and well-consulted policies.
Mamnoon Hussain was speaking at the 9th Achievement Award on Wednesday. Federal ministers, top government officials, LCCI President Sheikh Muhammad Arshad, Senior Vice President Almas Hyder, Vice President Nasir Saeed, former office-bearers, Executive Committee Members and renowned businessmen were present on the occasion.
The President said that government was taking all possible measures to overcome the energy shortage. He said that the role of business community is crucial for the progress and prosperity of the country and they should help the government to achieve the economic goals. He said that our Government is taking long-term, mid-term and short term measures to bring the economy back on the rail. The continuous support and co-operation extended by the business community have significantly improved the health of official revenues that gives me an immense satisfaction.
While highlighting the contribution of the Industrialists, Mamnoon Hussain pointed out that Pakistan’s entrepreneurs ensured the economic viability of the state that inherited negligible industrial base at the time of independence. He said that the accelerated growth has been achieved with the cooperation of business community. The government is availing the assistance of private sector under public-private ventures. He said that impact of these ever-improving economic indicators would soon reach the masses that would ultimately help decrease the gap between haves and have-nots.
While appreciating the LCCI initiative, he said that businessmen are writing new success stories with their sheer commitment and dedication despite all odds. He showed the optimism that entire business community will work hard to cope with new challenges.
In his address, the LCCI President Sheikh Muhammad Arshad said that the business community has a remarkable capacity to succeed. This is partly due to their individual initiatives and efforts and partly due to the fact that it is a country which is blessed in many respects.
He said that our country is blessed with a uniquely rich natural resource base. We have some of the finest and most precious minerals and metals in the world. We have one of the largest coal reserves estimated at over 175 billion tons. It is believed this can generate 100,000MW electricity for at least for one hundred years. This is an impressive context for visioning the future of a prosperous Pakistan. But it demands that we act smartly and responsibly in exploiting our natural resource endowment for securing high long term growth and improve standards of living in the country. It is only possible when we fully understand our challenges and can muster the will to remove hurdles impeding our journey to prosperity in a timely manner.”
The LCCI President said that Pakistan is passing through testing times. We are faced with many challenges, both nationally and internationally. However, it is comforting that the government is taking all steps to tackle these challenges.
Earlier, President of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain gave away awards. Hamza Munir Bhatti received Son of Lahore Award, Mian Nadeem Nisar, Dr. Sohail, Javed Afridi, Tanvir Ahmad, Daniyal Jawed Qureshi, Muhammad Irfan Butt, Dawar Rashid, Shabbir Bhatti, Qudrat Ullah, Mian Javed Ali and Hannan Asif received President Businessman of the Year Gold Medal, Rifat-un-Nisa and Nabila Intisar received Woman Entrepreneur Achievement Award 2016 and Salman Basit, Khawaja Shahid Rashid, Amjad Hussain, Mian Abid, Yasir Anwar, Salman Hanif Jewellers and Shahid Nazir received Achievement Awards.
