LONDON: Grafton Group reported record revenues of £2.5 billion last year despite weaker demand in the UK market. Revenues at the Irish builders merchanting and DIY group, which operates the Woodie’s chain of DIY stores, climbed 13 per cent from £2.21 billion to £2.5 billion.
Adjusted group operating profit increased by 12 per cent to £142 million in the year while the group’s basic earnings per share rose by 5 per cent to 41.6p. Grafton Group’s shares were trading almost 9 per cent higher yesterday evening. Gavin Slark, the chief executive of Grafton Group, said the results illustrated the strength of the business amid trying market conditions in the UK.
