Growers advised to complete cotton cultivation before mid-May

FAISALABAD: The agriculture experts have advised growers to immediately start the cultivation of cotton and complete it before mid May to get bumper yield.

A spokesman for the agriculture extension department told here on Saturday that farmers should cultivate approved varieties of cotton seeds over maximum space because its production not only plays a pivotal role in meeting food and cloth requirements of people but it also helps growers in mitigating financial issues. Among the approved varieties of cotton include Torjan-1, MNH-886, VH-259, BH-178, CIM-599, CIM-602, Fh-142, IR NIAB-824, IUB-222, Saiban-201, Sitara-11, MKZ-181, Torjan-2, CA-12, FH-114 and CIM-598. More information and guidance can be obtained through free help line of agriculture department through 0800-15000 from 8 am to 8 pm, he added.
