ISLAMABAD: Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar is in Dubai to conduct talks with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for disbursement of $550 million
Initial talks at the technical level have already been held and the policy level talks began on Monday which would continue for the next three days.
The head of IMF Review Mission Jaffrey Frank and Finance Minister Dar would hold a joint press conference after conclusion of the talks giving details about proceedings of the parleys.
According to finance ministry sources, the government does not need to seek any waiver in structural benchmarks after the latest 5 per cent increase in GST on petroleum products from 17pc to 27pc and delaying passing on to consumers the benefit of reduction in fuel price adjustment on power tariff for December.
The government has already given an undertaking to the IMF to cut public sector development programme by Rs258 billion against budgetary allocations to meet the gap arising out of revenue shortfalls.
