LONDON: Grand Theft Auto V first launched in September last year for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 and quickly became the highest grossing game in a week in the UK, moving on to a year later, the game re-launches for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 and not only tops its own record, but it also earned GTA V the title of best selling game in the UK, ever. It also earned the top spot for this week.
Elsewhere in the charts we saw the release of Far Cry 4 on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Windows PC, the first title to launch outside of the traditional Friday launch day, those few extra days also pushed the game into second place this week pushing Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare down to third place after two weeks at number one.
EA’s Dragon Age: Inquisition also launched last week entering the UK charts in fifth place selling almost exactly the same amount in week 1 as its predecessor Dragon Age II.
Finally another new release that failed to make any noise and even failed to enter the UK top 40 was Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric for Wii U and Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal for 3DS, another failed entry is Ubisoft’s Shape Up, an Xbox One exclusive which requires the Kinect, hopefully this’ll make more of an appearance come Christmas.
