LAHORE: Customs Investigation and Intelligence has confiscated Iranian made plastic sheets and two illegally imported vehicles including Mark-X and Toyota Hilux worth Rs 5 million, sources told Customs Today.
The sources said that on secret information the customs authorities raided a godown last week and seized the Iranian plastic sheets (Acrylic) which were dumped by the owner illegally in Wazirabad. The raid was conducted on the directives of Director Saud Imran.
The sources said that that the owner, Malik Shabir, failed to provide any legal documents regarding lawful possession of 61 tons of the plastic, thus the customs authorities confiscate the sheets. Superintendent Chudhary Akmal told Customs Today that owner is now ready to pay all duty and taxes on the sheet to release it.
Meanwhile the customs authorities also seized two vehicles including Mark-X and Toyta Hilux worth approximately Rs 4 million.
It was said that the anti-smuggling team consisting Superintendent Ch Akmal, Deputy Superintendent Muhammad Anwar, Inspector Saad Iqbal, Majid Raza, Agha Nasimullah, and spoyes Mubasahir and Abid, Usman, led by Deputy Director Zenib Mehmood conducted the successful operation.
The sources said that the customs authorties anti-smuggling Gujranwala chapter after registering cases have started further investigation. The Gujranwala Customs I&I also works and conduct operation and on the directive of director I&I Lahore directorate.
